Why'd you cut the snub mount?

A welder is very nice to have yes. I don’t know what I would do without it. Once u get one it’s like a smart phone. U can’t live without it! I cut the snub mount back to put the intercooler further in and up. It looks like this

I was trying to get the factory US bumper to fit but nope the aluminum bumper frame does though. Barely. I’m going to weld the bumper shocks in a fixed position so it doesn’t hit the cooler in a minor fender bender. Anyone have a banged up S2/RS2 bumper for sale? My friendly neighborhood HOA might complain soon. Hahahaha

I drilled a hole in the side of the bumper shocks so I could weld them in a fixed position to keep the aluminum bumper frame from hitting the intercooler in the event of a fender bender. God forbid. But I’m glad that they didn’t blow up in my face when I drilled into them. Hahahaha.

Having to have up the bumper was the reason I went with a standard universal size intercooler and modified it to fit. I also removed a large protion of the aluminum bumper to make it fit.

Now that I’m looking at it. I should move it up. Here is a picture of the cooler with about 3/16” clearance on each side. Front and back.

Well its still in the same spot. I decided to leave it there due to air flow and the fact that I don't have an S2/RS2 front bumper. What I have been doing is hooking all the wiring up. Since I don't want to cut the harness and due to the intake manifold setup I need to extend the TPS and IAT. Everything went fine except there is no such thing as a TPS male pin female connector. Mark was able to make one out of plastic That was awesome!

I just went on a drive and one of the guys had this same car he bought new and now has 330k on it. I think it’s had suspension and brake upgrades but otherwise stock and untouched. He pushed it hard and it did very well, was fun to see.

B5 fan controller installed

I used a 3 inch 135 degree silicone hose to plug up the A/C line hole in the firewall to draw fresh air from the cabin to the turbo

A slight vacuum in the cabin helps make the whole car a little lighter.

I was looking at pictures years ago and discovered that the S1 sport quattro does the same. It sucks air from the cabin. I also had to plug the hole somehow. The air inside is cleaner. No real dust from dirt roads, etc. A good neighbor friend of mine is from Kenya and his cousin races evo's in rally races out there and that is where he gets the intake air from as well. I'm debating about having an ice chest/cooler with a pipe running through it to cool it off even more but i will need to remove the HVAC box to do it. So for now it just dead ends behind the dash.

Yea. That might be a good idea. I'm obviously not going to have A/C and I'm in south Florida so the windows are probably going to be down all the time.
