So, I have a bit more than two months to get this sucker done! EEEK! Yesterday, I finished the majority of the wiring (I hope). I just have to spend a bunch of time tiding it up, which for now it's just getting zip-tied up for the trip to BBQ. I will make it look pretty after I get back. Tomorrow I'm going out to the pick-n-pull to snag a master, T-Stat snout and some other bits, along with picking up argon for the welder. I also am going to order my BOV, HD-N75, Wide-band, 02 sensor bung, Oil cooler, Narrow band for the stock harness (not sure if I need this), and an Ice-box for my AWIC. Anyways, that's it for now and of course as always progress comes glacial pace ...

Yup, sure am! I am going to order that last because it will be pretty much plug and play by the time it gets here. At least that's the plan.

No need for a narrow band then.

Just a quick little update, I got a bunch done today but almost zero pictures because I can't find my camera! Hopefully tomorrow is just as productive ....
Figured out my AWIC heat exchanger set up...

Also finished my DP.

The list of what I got done today was pretty extensive, so I will spare you guys all the details.
EDIT: Sorry for these awful phone pictures! HOPEFULLY I find my camera tomorrow! :dur:

Like a glove!

I think it came on and off the car like 15 times. I know it doesn't look like much, but eh, it's my first one and it was all done with a mig. Not tasty tig welding here.

I chose to go with an AWIC because it's a good compromise between efficiency and space. Also I didn't want to hack up the front end just to fit an AAIC. :-)

So as promised, pictures.

But first, just a bit of an update. This past weekend I finished up my DP as stated before, along with my VAC lines, started the build the mounts for my AWIC (am not 100% I like my location of it at this point), broke my fog lights >( , I also finished up sorting out my RAD hose situation, mounted the AWIC heat exchanger, fixed up my crank/head vent system and wired up my stereo only to find out that I accidently used a bad head unit I had laying around.... Grr... SO anyways... PICS!
Here is the vacuum junction off of the intake...

The beginnings of my AWIC being mounted...

Another heat exhanger shot...

AAAAND the money shot

Also just a couple random ones I took. I am worried the front is going to be setting too low by the time I get this all together. I may have to add a spring spacer to raise it up a tad just so that I can make the BBQ drive. Later I will go to an adjustable set up.

Anyways, that's it for now. I should have another half decent update soon.

No way man ride height looks good

Also, where are you going to run the pipe from turbo to IC?

Great work. Ride height is fine...it just looks low because you have those super-fat baloon sidewalled 45 series tires on there LOL.

I can guarantee it's going to rub like crazy over bumps.

As for the I/C piping, if you look on page 22 , I posted a picture of the mock up of how I am going to route the piping. I am keeping it as short as possible.
@ Dan, no joke man. These where CHEEEAAAP because they where used, so I am going to run-em for awhile, then it will get Dunlops or something like that.

LOL I understand cheap tires. 40 would be ideal for look but i bet you will find the 45 series to be more confortable for daily duty. I noticed a huge difference when i took off the original BBS 15" wheels and put the 17" ASA AR1's on my GLI with 205 40 tires. The car is quite a lot stiffer and doesnt glide over bumps anymore. FWIW, the tires on my 4kq are 45 series so they have a fairly fat sidewall which i'm ok with :-)

I will more than likely change to 40s after I drive it for awhile.

(These tires SUCK!)
As for today, I have a small update. I have 'officially' finished the harness integration.

While originally wiring the AAN harness in, I didn't think to provide a power source for the coils, injectors (anything that is ground controlled) etc. SO I took care of that today along with wiring in a couple of relays and I also sorted out the fuel pump relay. For now I am just swapping to a 5 pin because I am having damn hard time finding the correct wire to ground out for the 6 pin relay. After that, I did a systems check and found that everything electriclly is looking good. I also mocked and set up the BOV flange on the I/C piping, made a gasket for the DP and but not least cleaned out the trunk and installed an optima.
So, overall good progress for today! Looking at it, I think I am damn near ready to fire this beast up. I just need to get my oil cooler + lines, turbo oil lines, ECM, WG, plugs and I/C piping ready/installed and I 'should' in theory be ready to fire it up!

On a side note, because of some of the issues I have seen people having trouble with the fidenza trigger, I am going to make myself a 'factory' looking pin so I can be sure to pick up a strong crank position sensor signal.

Also one more item to add to the above list... fuel lines and fpr.

It does feel great!

As for oil, just as soon as I take care of the oil cooler I will add it!

I have thought about the 'forgetting' to add oil move many times. HAHA
