Now I can pull it apart and forget about tuning for like a month lol!

Well, I ran out of gas in the mower today and got the bright idea to fill a gas can from the CQ before the gas gets too old. Pulled the sender line, put in into the can, and turned the key... NOTHING!
So I
KNOW I was getting fuel at some point; probably not the last point

I pulled out the laptop to test the output channel and I can hear the pump turning "on" but clearly nothing is moving. The fuel filter was replaced when i did the turbo so I'm worried there is an issue with the pump (even though it's making the right noises).

lol, does that explain why my injectors didn't get it to fire?

Nah, the rail had pressure when I pulled them. User error was probably the biggest issue. I drove it right after I swapped back the the green tops.

Looks like the fuel pump gave up, I'l probably go with an 040; the Walbro 400 E85 is tempting but overkill.

No interest in the DW300?

The only reason I'd upgrade from the 040 is if the upgrade was more economical (which sounds weird but the 400E85 is slightly cheaper). I'm unlikely to ever need >250LPH in this car so spending more on the DW300 does not compute

040 on the way, if I end up needing more pump I'll add a surge tank.
Now I'm trying to decide if it'd be ridiculous to pull the engine with the main goal of replacing the clutch...
That may be a bit simplistic. I need to do the clutch but I also have replacements for the subframe bushings, trans and diff bushings, motor mounts, inner TREs, and I really want to clean up unused 7a harness and generally clean the whole bay so that it looks less ratty. The enabler in me says "to do all this work you're going to undo everything so you may as well pull it all at once".
Additionally, I'm at a bit of a crossroads as far as keeping the coupe as my primary driver (versus selling and getting something non B3/4 chassis with more utility) so I guess I want to do some amount of "the list" either way.
As I'll only have a few hours a week to do work, it feels like pulling everything may ease my ability to start and stop versus starting one thing and feeling like I should finish it. Also, I have a hoist but not a trans jack.
This is mostly rhetorical; I'd like to have the space in the garage back by the end of October.
P. S. After being in the garage for a couple hours today, I really need some shelves so I can make some fing room! Between that and this POS jack I have getting motivated to spend time in the garage is a challenge. I know, I know, some people are wrenching in the dirt; I did that for nearly 20 years and now I just want AC and a lift!

Dirty af! That's what a lot of daily driving looks like and one of the reasons I want to pull everything out!

Also, here's my fuel issue!

Pretty strange, I don't think I've ever seen this issue before! Now I need to figure out how to reattach it!

I can show it with the half garage worth of stuff! I can't feel too bad since a good bit of it is 3 engines and misc parts but the non-auto outweighs the auto.

Ok, so one of the things I've been dealing with on the coupe is a dead hall sensor in my remote cam position sensor (dizzy).
I followed
this rebuild write-up but I'm still not getting any signal.
So, I just went back to the
manufacture's site and now I see that they specify a pull-up resistor which was not specified in the rebuild article:

Anyone have an idea if I need this for VEMS (not using the Audi wiring)?

If the schematic above is correct, red is ground, black is out, and green is power.
On another note, somehow two mice got inside a stack of wheels in my garage. Annoying little f'ers !

Order of wires was reversed, have good signal now. TPS seems to be working also, not sure why!
I need to finish wiring up a GM MAT and get rid of this half tank of old gas before I can evaluate if we're good to pass emissions. Having a working O2 would be helpful here also!
I prioritized resolving these running issues over the clutch and mounts that I have on the shelf. My hope is that I'll be able to pass emissions on the WG spring without the clutch causing issues. I have the week of Thanksgiving off, ideally I'll get the Ohlins on the 90 rebuild by then so I can clear the garage and do the clutch (I really need a bigger garage, and less crap!).
If all goes well, I'll be driving the CQ all winter (16" snows).
* I really need to repair/replace the hydroboost system. I lost a head plug o-ring (and the fiddlesticking spring in the NAPA parking lot) way back in the winter of '13 /14 and non boosted brakes are lame.

Found another issue for the list, I was working on a new & relocated IAT sensor so I decided I'd test why the WBO2 has not been heating correctly. Turns out I have a short somewhere which is feeding the WB02 +12v ALL THE TIME! I guess I'll add reevaluate battery relocation/breaker function/+12v feeds to the VEMS harness to the list

I replaced the battery that came with the car about 6mos after going VEMS and figured it was simply old (it was fairly old); hopefully the new battery is not dead (I've been jumping it, figured it was simply low from sitting forever, cranking to troubleshoot, and not running long).

Right! I was following the rebuild instructions pretty carefully but who knows if one of the kids asked me a question or something and threw me off.
The 12v issue must be fairly simple too, just need to follow the leads.

So I have a VEMS harness, it seem's it may be a known issue

Not perfect but close to what would fit into the existing housings.

Well, it idles well now. For some reason my coolant fan is not kicking on; I think I have a sensor but it's a bitch to get at. My VE table is way off, I blame the old and less than E85 fuel that is in the tank. It is a half tank so kind of a pain to burn off. I think we are looking pretty good to be driving by the end of the week, which is good because I have a longer commute in 2 weeks ;-)
Have not decided what to do about the harness.

Ohlins is always an interesting proposition

Good luck in the next week or so. Get to tunin'!

I like the fact that they are rebuildable but in my research for a good (qualified but not overpriced) shop to do the rebuilding, I've found a bunch of non-Ohlins options which are tempting. If I was starting fresh I'd probably go a different direction but I'm not ready to give up the rears that I have.
I'd rather dump this half tank of old fuel than tune for it!
