foxbat wrote:Really bummed to read this Ben. You are the embodiment of what this event is all about. You are an enthusiast and one heck of a good guy. We all understand budgets for sure. Money is the one thing that stands in the way of us Battle Borners and rightful automotive glory. If there is something we can do as a community let us know. Anyway you can make it if the car can't?
Your too kind man!

Honestly though, at this point, if I go, my car goes with me. I pretty much dedicated the past year living on a hot-dog budget to get my 4kq on the road for BBQ. If something happens in the next two weeks I will pull a hail-Mary pass to get down there... but I wouldn't hold my breath. I gotta say, last year's event was the highlight of my year and one way of another, I will be at next years event!!! :-)

Like I told you Ben, I would probably be talked into getting you a loaner to help the budget. Just need to buy the flying lead and wire it up. That would save you 600$...

Thanks Hank! I will take that into consideration man.

I am actually planning on buying my ECM Thursday or Friday. I am down to 4 or 5 things that I need to pick up before the car is drive-able. Legitimately, it all depends on work flow at this point. If we have a repeat of the last week, for the next two weeks I MIGHT be able to make it happen. BUT if work is like the past month and half before last week, there is no way even with a loaner ECM I can make it happen.

Ben,
You realize that your room has already been booked and reserved? Same as last year or would you like an upgrade? 8)

I will!

I keep laying the hammer down on it each spare moment I have. Last night I rebuilt my WG so I can finally bolt that sucker up.

Well, It's official guy's I won't be making it to BBQ this year. I am going to stay in town and keep working on the 4kq. I will be sure to make it next year! At least this way I will have some time to sort out reliability issues and such. Thanks for all the support guy's! MG RULES!

SO, I finally installed an oil cooler (stock 5kqt one for the mean time) and also finished the turbo oil feed/drain lines. And now the engine officially builds oil pressure!

I'm totally down, but I must say you better make exception for Zermatt and Oceanics or we might have to hand out some woopins!

I am going to next payday. I decided not to push my budget because of not going to BBQ. Still happening in October though, so soon my friend. Very soon.

So I am getting the list cut down to almost nothing!

All that is left before I can start it up is hook up the heater core and fill with coolant, pick up a FPR and -8 an Fuel line, wrap/reinstall the DP and last but not least my ECM!

Then all I have left to do to make it driveable is pick up a bildge pump and ice box for the AWIC. Anyways, here are a few pictures of it's current status....
Engine bay shot...

Home-Depot filter set up (ya I know, it's getto) ...

My temporary oil cooler solution is a 5kqt set up...

and now, as always a couple of photos to whore out ... xD
4kqt + The Nugget sneaking into the photo
