I haven't been on in a while so I figured I would catch up to the things I have been doing. Jeff flew in to help change out the light weight lifters. I had my valve cover machined to accept the 2.0 coils, had Marc make me a plug and play harness and I sent him my ECM so he can make changes to the drivers/dwell. The computer should be back this week.

Hey Josh, that looks great. Just a heads up on those coils, they hate radiant heat. If you get a misfire, barely running situation, cool them down with a bit of water and see if that fixes it. I hope you don't run into this, but if you do hopefully it will save you a lot of troubleshooting. Completely shielding my header and hot side fixed the problem for me. The Ceramic coating wasn't enough protection in my case.

I ran into this same issue constantly on my B6 1.8t when I had a tube header. Either the new cast manifold radiates a lot less heat or having factory management instead of VEMS changed something, haven't had it happen on the new setup (and with less shielding).
But yeah, like Jim said, go overboard on the heat shielding. Mine used to randomly start dropping cylinders, especially sitting in traffic. Pull over, pour water on the coils, and you could hear them come back online as they cooled off.

Yep, that's exactly the problem. So you are on a cast manifold and VEMS now?

I'm on a cast manifold and Maestro now, used to be tube header/VEMS and haven't had the problem since I made those changes. They changed our inspection laws so now OBD compliance is a must-have for '95+

I wound say a tube header thing... Had VEMS running a cast RS2 manifold/t04e setup and it rarely did it... stepped up to a tube setup and it only got worse.

Headers have ALOT more surface area to dissipate heat
