Now arent you glad you listened to me?

By the way, what rate springs did you go with? I'm on the verge of deciding between coil overs or custom springs from the local manufacturer

Nice, that BBI 993 is pretty nasty. I like the idea of that sort of thing but I do miss AC.

Yes, thanks for the advice Jared! Helped a lot.

As far add the bbi goes, I already don't have ac :)

Good progress today! Front is 100% assembled and on the ground, ready for alignment. I also put the new turbine housing on, that a huge pain in the ass, but it's done. I put the turbo blanket on too, and installed my plug wire separators. I'm working on relocating the catch can and having more of a slope so there's not as much oil coming in until I figure out a better option on the valve cover.

I started the car too, was awesome to hear it roar a little again. Can't wait to retune for the .82 housing and higher fuel pressure. But first have to do the entire rear of the car... not just subframe but diff mounts too!

Lastly, I made some headway on the door handle front. The front is almost finished being installed, I just need a new stupid little plastic piece. I was able to swap my lock cylinder without issue so still only 1 key.

Plug separators, getting there with the minimalist approach:

Turbo blanket and heat shield. Thank goodness you can't see the frame rail I had to indent for it all to fit :)

Just picked up a 12x1.5 3/8" barbed fitting for the fuel pump outlet and a 14x1.5 for the fuel filter inlet. That'll clean up the fuel lines down there and also be much larger pre-filter. Instead of whatever the tiny little fuel line/pipe size is (6mm?).

This car is becoming awesome-r.

Sundays at home are bad news.

Just ordered a 16 row oil cooler + lines + fittings from Summit. The stock lines/cooler/location wasn't cutting it. I plan to place it in front of and below the turbo, just beside the tow hook. That way it isn't blocking the rad any more than the FMIC is and it gets fresh clean air. Plus the hose routing in that spot is very short and easy. Saweeeeeet.

Dude your car has always been epic, you just don't take any media of it to be superstar internet famous. It's funny reading all these success posts after so much strugglesnuggle last year, looks like your mechanical aptitude has increased big time.

lol strugglesnuggle. True say.

Thanks guys. It's getting there. I feel more confident/happy about the car every time I work on it and fix/improve it. MOAR BETTER FASTER

Did I mention that the 034 downpipe had come apart after the flex coupler? It's why I didn't ever do launch control on this car for fear of blowing it apart. It separated once on backfire in the shop so I figured launch control would blow it apart. Point is, dad welded it back together with 5 welds. The inside of the flex coupler is two very thin pieces so we had to be really careful welding it. But it's together and very strong so LC here I come! I really hope the 016 doesn't eat it, I'm not prepared for 01e swap!

Does the pass side TRE have an adjuster in the engine bay? Or is the entire assembly one unit?

Keep up the work, buddy. FWIW, delrin "technically" doesn't need to be lubricated. It is recommended so it doesn't absorb water and squeak down the road. When I bought my CA bushings from 034, it came with a syringe of grease, but I decided to use antiseize instead. Haven't had an issue in countless miles.

When installing them, I installed the bushing WITH the sleeve installed. That way you don't have to force it in, as they are a very very tight fit. Also, the CAs are going to be hard to move when torqued down. The bushings are essentially pinched when you sinch down on the bolt. Rest assured though, with the weight of the car, they will move just fine when you need them to :) Again, mine are the same way, and I've put countless miles on them.

Keep up the good work!

Hmm, good thought, didn't even think to check in there to see if adjustment was on the inboard side. Will have a look next time.

The CA bushings did come with grease, it was just hard to see lol. I installed them the way you did at first as well, but I'm much happier with their fit now after reaming them a little.

Sold my 993tt bbk, getting a custom Wilwood setup from Todd @ TCE Performance in Arizona. Should only cost me a few hundred or so when it's all said and done!

Also hope to tackle the rear subframe this weekend.

Removed rear subframe, dif, and axles all together. All bushings and mounts are removed and it's ready for a clean up/reinstall! I used a vice and torch for all the bushings this time.

Last thing to do once I assemble it all is rear strut mounts/helper springs. Feeling good!

And back together! All bushings back in, subframe and control arms cleaned, New tie rod assemblies in. New dif mounts, pressing the rear mount in actually went really smooth. I heated the casing a little with the torch and had the mount in the freezer for about an hour. Doing the front first cut my time in half for the rear. AND not doing those stupid stupid stupid sway bar bushings.

Debating whether to change the dif fluid... I probably will. It looked medium dark.

All that's left is the strut mounts and helper springs! I am seriously so ready to love this car and love driving it. The roads are nearly clear, but I'm gonna wait for a rain or two to wash the salt away.

After this and the brakes, this chassis will be SO ready for an 07k ;)

Car is on the ground! Albeit with a wonky ass alignment, but it's on the ground ready for alignment :) One step closer...

Oil cooler, 7a fpr, and rear door handle done! I tidied up some wiring too.

To do: coolant flush, mount catch can, alignment, driver's door handle. Unfortunately a small plastic clip is broken... Where can I get something like this?

Pics coming later...

This stupid thing. Seriously where am I gonna find something like this

Side view of oil cooler hang
Image

Super simple install. Not sure if it needs ducting as it's only about an inch or two from the grill
Image

Front view of hang... I'm happy! Can't see it at all on the ground.
