Tablet size for display?

Hey all! I'm planning on getting vems for my race car build this spring and am wanting to use the vems display(droid) setup as my main gauge set. Figure I'll have dummy lights for the critical stuff at race speed anyhow, so it's not like the tablet will be constantly watched. Unless I'm streaming netflix waiting in line for the next stage to start.....
What size tablets are you guys using? 7" seems so small to me. I'd love to run a big ass 10" tablet but room isn't looking like it will allow. I honestly haven't held or played with many tablets aside from my iPad so I genuinely have no clue. I plan on checking out a few this upcoming week just to get an idea of size. This will be installed where the 4kq cluster is. Not sure if I want to leave the stock bezel/switches and run a smaller tablet or yank that, mount a knob for the headlights in the center panel and run a bigger tablet. Thoughts?

Wow that looks great! If it's AIM brand maybe it is AIM (Com method?) Compliant with VEMS too? Awesome tho.
To five an idea, my 7 in asus tablet is just big enough for my lambda and boost gauges and a very small IAT digital readout in between that can be read from the center dash while sitting normally. Of course that isn't directly in front of me. I would go 8 or larger for sure if space allows.

I've had experience an iconia w4, 8" not bad but tuning without a pen will be a pita and doesn't support charging while using usb. For gauges, as long as your display is ips you should be ok. Hp stream 8 seems like a good deal with 4g imo.

Thanks for the replies guys! I'm def leaning towards an 8" or bigger now. Some crap came up that's eating into my vems fund for now so I may end up running cheap I gauges to hold over until I can get caught back up.
Is there a certain speed or spec I should be aware of when shopping for a tablet for this? I'm not to hot with electrics it seems haha. Something I'm learning about slowly... Whatever tablet I go with will literally only have one job, to display info from the ecu. I just want something that can keep up.

Good lord I'm not spending that on my daily beater lol. I got my asus tablet for $89 at best buy and it works flawlessly with vems. Look up the model and you'll see what it has for reference.

BTW has anyone noticed that when using vemsdisplay for the first time on a new tablet or phone that it won't connect under v3 mode, for logging purposes, without first connecting under AIM mode at least once?

I'd want solid Bluetooth connectivity and USB charging so I can use the Vems stuff, log and stream music stored on the hard drive. Might as well use the HD for something useful... logs don't take up much room.

Yeah, it's a kick in the pp
I still want one, even though it's 75% the same as a tablet.
