What is the hot VEMS setup?

This is pretty much inevitable, but trying to figure out what I can purge from my car once VEMS is in. One of the things I love about my current setup which is an 034 IIc with a Zeitronix zt2 wideband, is the wideband display that has AFR, EGT and Boost, plus peak and hold.
The VEMS LCD is similar and has more fields than the Zeitronix, but I don't think it is peak and hold capable. I use the crap out of this feature to make sure things did not get out of wack during a pull or track session. EGT, Boost, etc.
It seems like VEMS Display for Android is a good substitute for this, but it looks like you would have to eyeball peak values from one of the plots. Are the plots on this app at all interactive, or is there peak and hold functionality? The idea of an Acer iconica running full VEMS tune is cool as well.
It looks like you can customize the Group displays on VEMS tune to do anything you want, is it crazy to run this on an 8 inch tablet?
Can you run an LCD display AND a Bluetooth adapter for a tablet?
Mark, how quickly can you get an ECU out? I am contemplating doing this before I am in Vegas on Hanks dyno in two weeks.

I'll be watching this with great interest.

I have yet to actually setup the bluetooth adapter I bought but my understanding is the Android vemstune takes the place of your laptop. So you could run the LCD and the tablet, or LCD and Laptop, can't have laptop and android running off vems at the same time. Vemstune for Android also does not have any tuning functions, but does all the gauges and readouts normal Vemstune will do. That's what I can tell from the amount that I've used it trying to set it up on my shitty HTC Phone.

Jim, is there any reason why you wouldn't just use the ZT2 with VEMS to keep the peak/hold features?

Yep, I got both the display and bluetooth adapter and plan on doing this.

The only problem with running the zeitronix as well as vems is running two 02 sensors in the exhaust. Which isn't really a big deal?

I could keep the ZT2 for fun which may make sense since if can't have two serial devices hooked up at once. Then again it is just an expensive boost and egt gauge at that point.

So does yours have 1 or 2
user inputs? Am I correct to think that it pulls MAP directly from the sensor? I'd think that if you had 2 you could run the gauge with AFR and EGT from VEMS. If I'm right about boost you should be able to drive that via VEMS also. Of course this uses 3 outputs. Does it do peak/hold for the user inputs?

I think Sean has one in the Blue Pill. I've considered if losing the center vents and radio would be worth having a 8"+ tablet. An AIM dash would probably be an easier solution.

Vems and Iconia w4 in route. That should keep me busy for a while

On a somewhat related detour, a question for the masses. Is there any concern losing the baro sensor in the IIc when moving to VEMS? I live at basically sea level, but will hit 7k feet on the drive to Vegas (and 4-5k driving around WA). So I could experience several thousand feet in elevation change without keying off the car to reset it.
I'd imagine Jim would routinely have a similar situation.

vems supports a baro sensor if you want one. just gets wired to a spare analog input.
there is really only one table IMO that needs modification for speed density with altitude and thats boost control

I never used the bardo adjustment. MAP based systems do it automatically if you think about it. I tried when I was in CO and it proved nightmarish.

Thanks! I'm not sure if I was even using it on the IIc since I never had it running on it for long...

Spent most of the weekend reverse engineering 15 years of engines and 034 swaps. Whew. At this point there are Deutsch connectors between the 034 ECU and the harness. Now I just need to make a harness from the VEMS econoseal to the Deutsch connectors and it should be plug and play. I didn't just re-pin the harness because I have a track event this weekend and I don't think I have time to get VEMS to a point where I am comfortable flogging it around the track for the weekend. Plus this will make it easier for future engine and ecu swaps, just being realistic

Don't forget about Vems round gauge display too. Show two values at once with 8 different channels. Button on the gauge to cycle through each channel. So u can display 16 different values, which is 99% of the time more then enough for any aim display
