I was going to wait to start this thread until I moved the car to its new home, but I've finally been working on related projects so I figured I should start this thread now or I never would. Before we get into a conversation about the state of 911 prices, or how "they really aren't that fast"- I get it and agree, but for me this is an investment. I can always find money for car projects but never for savings so hopefully this will be a perfect solution
I bought this car in April, it's a non-sunroof 1976 911 Coupe S with fiberglass widebody fenders front and rear that was bought as a complete roller sans engine/trans. I believe it is a Better Bodies kit, it uses 993 headlights and their fenders, I believe it's proper nickname is a "slope-nose." Either way, I don't like it. Luckily the original headlights were included in the sale, and a pair of regular widebody fenders aren't too expensive.
The engine/trans is a 2.7 I bought from the owner of my company, Rennline Inc. (a main part of why I own a 911 in the first place- follow us on Instagram @Rennline and like us on Facebook

) out of a 1976 (?) Targa. It's a 5spd 915 trans with 4 bolt output flanges which I personally haven't seen before. The plan is to go through the motor, it's relatively low miles so hopefully it won't need a full rebuild, but it definitely needs a thorough regasketing and some love. The plan for the engine is a pretty stock-ish N/A build. I will either be doing ITB's on Megasquirt or a kind of CIS-replica manifold which would be much easier on a number of fronts with the potential to look more factory. All the CIS stuff on this motor is rotted, and since I can simply run the factory ignition and have MS just do fuel, it should be a very reliable and easy setup to tune. The trans will stay stock with it's factory open diff.
The plan for the rest of the car is to upgrade/replace all the bushings with our High-Density series (85A) and then probably do some Tarett Engineering sway bars and a full smattering of Rennline parts inside and out. Goal is for it to be a loud, (relatively) low, cool street car with enough grunt to be fun and a nice, tight chassis without being overly stiff (so likely no monoballs).
