The top ones look kinda like the rs4 dtm wheels with thinner spokes.

Elbrus - no stupid two piece look bolts to catch dirt and do absolutely nothing function wise. I like those ASAs, but 2 piece look wheels are probably my biggest pet peeve evar.

well, i can make a real update on something i've been fabbing up in my spare time for the breather system. i took some spare A/C parts i had laying around to create this...
receiver drier

cut apart

removed the sack

fitted a drain back tube to the bottom so that gathering oil can end up back in the crank case without having to do it myself..

this is about where it will mount. there is a little tube that goes into the main breather pipe off the side of the block that my drain line taps into

this is the upper half of the breather tank. the inlet from the block will go through the pipe sitting at a 45* and pass through a small K&N filter to catch most of the oil from the air. the filter sits upside down and i figure it will just gather in it and gravity drain down into the bottom of the can.

the curved tube is just open in the top and will be the suction line from the turbo

this is an extra bottom end of a reciever drier to help act as a shield from spray/mist. the bent areas are for the escaping air to pass around.

lika so..

filter sits like so..

and basically the completed product. i think i can shorten in an inch or two though

i think i will stuff some of that large metal scotchbrite type stuff as an added filter above the shield in the upper half of the can as well.
the lines will be made from the aluminum A/C lines and routed cleanly once my new intake manifold is in place and a bunch of wiring is routed and cleaned up. i think this setup should work ok.

Looking good Derek......I will be interested in how much mist will be able to get through the KN and sucked back into the intake. The intake of the turbo at full tilt ought to have a pretty decent suck going on, but the KN and steel wool/pad should trap most of the oil I would think. You tapping the valve cover also?
By the way, your tig skills are getting to look pretty decent.

Yeah, and your thumb is starting to look good too!!
Gotta get this thing wrapped up before the next 4.2 a6 rolls into te shop for a 6 speed swap!

wouldn't have anything to do with the link i sent you would it?

i would think you could fine tune the flow of the suction tube by installing an orifice in the suction line...

KSL mean anything to you Dave?

thanks guys! i really like TIGing the alu. and am happy with the results.
i will be tapping the valve cover. i had already drilled and put a vent in the back of my current VC, but found out that's a bad place for it, so i got some VC's from Josh and i'll put a port on top of one to move the position to a better place.

The best place for the breather is top center of the valve cover, with a splash shield inside. At the back you get way to much oil entering under acceleration. The distributor plug location is probably the worst place of all.

i can get the first ones in 16x7.5 for a reasonable sum...
i really dig the machine finish on them, and they look like they'd have decent clearance for brakes.

i am having the hardest time finding my zermatt car in a set of these.. and they are 16x7

i really love these old OZ's, but they won't fit in a million years :(

Ok it's not a Zermatt car, but here's what the ASA's look like on my CGT if it helps you visualize them mounted.

:thanks: I missed the memo... mines right square in the back... another little project....

yeah.... i found out how much oil it pukes out the back during acceleration.. maybe you don't have that problem doug? are you pushing the pedal down all the way :?

still have problems with oil :barf: I am fixing to do breather V5 (6?) soon... still have issues, mostly due to cheapo hoses oozing & collapsing, saw others with vents out the top and thought that would be better.... have a spare 7a cover... wanted to add some vacuum to my setup but my air filter is right on turbo inlet... need to add a cold air pipe, want to move and recirculate BOV outlet too, think coldest inlet air possible always a good idea....

The 20vT AAN engines etc have a small splash shield if i remember correctly underneath the oil cap. I suspect sourcing one of them might be the trick for a few guys. One should be able to mount it in a few different locations.
Here's the part # on it: 034103553D

I'm getting to the party late .....but.....I really like the Elbrus wheels......similar to the Celebrations(which look great on 4kq's) but not quite as busy.

consensus?
tires would be 225/35/17. the rims are 17x8.5 ET35. they'd have a little stretch, but i don't think it would be much, and would look very appropriate on the german car. they aren't real kinesis wheels, but they look darn close, and i think i like the hyper black better than the brilliant silver on this zermatt. also, it would look more proper with a tire and bein lowered a little.... that's the idea. i want a little more attitude to the look of this car.

there's actually quite a bit of room for calipers!

they are right at the edge of the fender lips width wise up front, but i think i have a remedy for about a half inch more of clearance.

Not bad. I can't really tell they're any kind of black from the pics though.
