I would not say it's a "performance" upgrade.
I'd say it's an upgrade from the side of , when one dies a quick run to VW and you can get one for $30 rather then #100+
And then wait for shipping.

They also offer a nicer look to the engine bay as well, a little modern touch to the old school look.

I'd advise running with the 20VT cover off, the 2.0 coils make some heat and can be damaged if not allowed to vent.

It might have just been a sales tactic but even on 034’s website they say that the 2.0 coils aren’t a “performance upgrade” and they rec using the HO coils. But I thought I remember a ton of you guys running the 2.0 coils on higher end horse power UrS models?

Has anyone replaced their oil filter housing gasket that EFI sells? The smallish green one? Think I might have a small leak from there was wondering if its as straight forward as it looks, or if there is something I need to worry about.
Also on a random note, if I were to add A/C back into my car is there anything I should be on the look out for? I only took out my condenser and the massive line going to it. Other than that everything is still in the car.

Depending how long it's been open you might want to flush it both ways. Be sure to pull a vacuum on the whole system for awhile before recharging it. If you need a condenser I think I have one that you can have.

In addition to Mike's (good) advice have it done at a shop. I'm all for DIY but the quality of the equipment and refrigerant is higher at a reputable shop than the cans you can buy at your FLAPS.

Thanks for the info. I currently work at a shop. Factory Audi A/C machine. Pulls vacuum for how ever long you want, I usually do 15 min and a leak test for 15min as well.

I might take you up on that. However my old one was cracked, thus I tossed it in the bin. I would prefer not to have to go down that route a second time. So I was looking at getting a new one. I will get a new drier for sure. They are pretty cheap. for a new Nissens one.

An AC nerd friend of mine swears by the variable orifices over the fixed. I have one in mine and it was cold until everything leaked out! Good luck keeping cool, I’m a big fan of working AC. It works in all my other cars and house, lol.

Buyer beware with Nissens. You get what you pay for with them, oftentimes less.

I'd take a solid used core any day over Nissens, personally.

I don’t remember exactly, but I’m pretty sure the one I took out was Nissens, what was the factory brand? Behr or someone else?
Well I will probably go with that new Nissan direr just because its new. But I guess I’ll try and track down a core.
Mike, is that condenser in good shape?

I haven't had any issues. Are you trying to add them via the Tapatalk app, TPP attachments or [img] tags? I use the latter, hosted on imgur.

Trying to upload some pictures again. I got some work done on my fender. Sanded it down a bit and painted it. Turned out pretty dang well for only using a rattle can.

To be honest, I am not sure. I don't use the app. I just go down to add file and pick the picture from a folder and then hit add the file and it uploads. Never had an issue until now.

Finally got around to getting my door cards done. Good buddy of mine help me out. After 24 years the beehive adhesive just wasnt doing it job anymore. Took the old vinyl off and used it as a template. Used 1/8" foam and 100% UV rated, aircraft leather. Scrapped the old stuff off, using a combo of plastic razor blades, sand paper, scotch brite pads (red/purple) and aircraft cleaner used to take carbon off of planes. My buddy did some great work, for not being able to wrap them around and only being able to tuck them into the pockets. I think the black really works nice with the tone of the dash and the carbon fiber. Really am a fan.

Got my windshield replaced and threw some paint on the hood. Learned a lot by painting the hood. It no where near perfect or even good, but its protected and looks better than it did.

Has anyone had a coolant leak possibly coming from the cool cap. I seem to be losing coolant and have dried coolant around the reservoir, even on the hood strut when I looked yesterday, but it doesn't look like its coming from a hose.

Its possible yeah , I have had it due to either the cap leaking or the rubber gasket underneath leaking . Not sure if the pressure device inside fails over time or what .
that cap does fit a ton of cars and should be easy to pick one up

Awesome. Ill get a new one and start with that.

As a side note, what is your guys' average MPG? City or highway?
I moved an my commute went from about 3miles round trip to around 35ish, some days 60-70 if I have to go back multiple times. I am getting 20.0 mpg currently. 65-70mph.
