Fun side story about those triples. My father had a 9000 Turbo, and right around 3 grand, it'd just fall on it's ass. So, he replaced the old plugs with some PT+4's, in the right heat range. Same problem, only not as bad. So, he gave up and threw a set of those triples in there, and the problem disappeared, and it ran better than it ever had before. Bosch FTW.


That car is looking FANTASTIC. Don't wreck this one!!! :P

Did you fuse your battery in the trunk?

Oh and I remember a long time ago you buying new door strikers (I think that's what they're called), where did you get those guys? I'm in need of some new ones.

I put the PN on Autohausaz's website, they were a few bucks a piece (maybe a tad more). Impex prices were higher. I gotta snag me some of them as well.

and no, i didn't fuse the wire, just routed it carefully and properly so as to ensure no rubbing on the wire. i don't know of any factory car that has a trunk mounted battery to have a fuse inline.

Ok. I haven't fused mine either, but I was a little worried that overtime with people getting in and out of my car that perhaps the cable would find a way to wear through and I'd have a mini 4th of July in my car.

I had a Jeep in High School with a carefully routed amp wire, one day I was putting something on the roof and the smoke started. I moved with Hank-like speed to open the hood, see the fire, then run to the back grab my shovel and proceed to pry the wire off the battery post with the shovel.

I run a fuse now. :wink:

hey jim, what kind of fuse you have? i'm interested in who actually has a "fuse" on their battery wire and how they got one that would hold a few hundred cranking amps.

I think mine is a 180 amp from Napa. I did blow a 150 one time when I tried to crank the car in gear. Talk about looking extra stupid, no fast recovery on that one.

Ask and you shall recieve. From ETKA - 357-837-034. $2.61 a piece at Autohausaz, didnt check any other sites though, besides Impex, and IIRC they were 8 bucks a piece?

I run a 150amp in the rally quat too, about 10" before the battery..just carry a spare.

not a fuse, but works perfectly for me

held up to all the cranking I did which eventually overheated and destroyed my one starter :wtf: think it was $7 shipped via ebay :)

We've have extremely good results with these plugs, far more reliably than the F5DPOR's under very high boost, and at a fraction of the price.

Look up! It's already been answered. FYI, the plugs are used on the 7a 20v engine. I have a brand new set installed, one less thing to buy for the turbo swap;-)

ok, more pics!

got the turbo and all its lines on and tight. i got rid of those STUPID allen bolts that hold them on too. gah, i hate those things. i always save the flange head bolts from oil pans when i take them off as they always clean up and have those anti releasing teeth on them.

i'm also still working on a P/S pump mount. i tinkered a bit yesterday off an on trying to get something sturdy worked out.

i also added the life blood of an engine! oil....

...which i had to drain back out because it started to drip out of the bolts on the oil pan extension. sooo, i gotta clean those out and put some sealer on the threads so i can put oil in and make it stay :P

last thing i did was finish up the battery wire to the starter. it's a tight fit in there and with the straight lug there's no way it'll work. so i had to bend it a bit to make it fit.

i need to replace some of the wire on the solenoids as they've done the crumbly jumbly that seemingly every one of these things does. hmm, other things, the alt. is now in place, and once the P/S pump brackets are finalized, i can stick the radiator and shrouds in. then i'll be getting reeeeeeeeeeallly close :D
